The Throne of Skulls 2012

Hello again!
Below is a snapshot of the armies and games I played while I was at the Throne of Skulls event in Memphis, Tennessee 2012.  It was a very humble and small event.  A lot of the players there were perfect gentlemen and I had a great time even though I went 1-4.  I learned a GREAT DEAL from my opponents.  If you do get the opportunity, please attend an event like this one!

My Lamenters against my opponent's Space Wolves.  His army was beautifully painted.  He won best painted.

Free beer and snacks?  Yes, please!

The other Space Wolf player I faced.  His army was gorgeous as well.

The only army I beat at the event, Raven Guard.  Pretty good looking army.  My opponent this game was nice enough to give me some pointers in mid game and help me win.

That's me holding the certificate.  Second place in the pub quiz.

Some pictures of the layout of the event and one of the trophies.

Lamenters project update

It's been awhile since I posted a project update. I have gotten quite a bit done! I am posting these photos as kind of an update to those that follow the blog. They can see below the type of progress I have made at the sort of "half way point". I will post pictures from the throne of skulls as I get them all organized. Enjoy the photos!

Lamenters part 2

Good afternoon everyone,

At this moment I am taking a break to give you a major update on the Lamenters project.  I have until Thursday night/Friday morning to have this army ready for Throne of Skulls tournament which is this Saturday, October 6th.

Another tester Marine.

One squad will be the 6th Squad.  For those of you who don't know, Lamenters rarely deploy companies, instead choosing squads from their companies so each force is tailored to the specific mission.

Death Company.  I used the Bloodletter Glaze over the red to really make the red pop out.  I gave him a power sword and a chainsword to give a very fanatical pose.  Bolt pistol on the hip.

Ok, so I cheated some and did freehand checkers on the backs of some of the sculpted pads.  I think it's clever though.

6th squad.

The bases are going to be Snow bases with some turf applied to give an early winter.

That's it for now.  I will have more photos possibly later today, as many are in much more advanced stages.  I am painting so fast I can barely keep up with it!
